Physics and Philosophy II

Physics & Philosophy II is a collection of ten texts that were presented in an abridged version at the meetings Physics & Philosophy in Split in year 2016 and 2017. The 2016 Conference was entitled “Basic Concepts of Physics” and the 2017 Conference was entitled “Space, Time and Causality in Physics and Philosophy”. The Conferences were organized by the University of Split (Faculty of Science, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture) and the Institute of Philosophy in Zagreb. The leading idea of the Conferences was to open and develop a dialogue between physics and philosophy. The texts in the book are the following: Berislav Žarnić, Gabriela Bašić Hanžek, Ljudevit Hanžek, “On the historical and cognitive development of the concept of time”, Dragan Poljak, Mirko Jakić, “A note on solution of the wave equation in classical electromagnetics”, Peter Lukan, “Physical probability vs. probability in physics”, Aurélien Perera, “Should in-silico experiments guide the theory, or the opposite? A liquid state physicist point of view”, Zvonimir Šikić, “The speed of light is the speed of everything”, Kristina Šekrst, “Much ado about nothing: cosmological and anthropic limits of quantum fluctuations”, Neven Bilić, “Multiverse and braneworlds inspired by string theory”, Tomislav P. Živković, “Double slit experiment and the quantum notion of space: through which slit did the particle go?”, Tomislav P. Živković, “Experimental detection of the photon wave-packet envelope”, Franjo Sokolić, “What are the basic concepts of physic and how do we construct them?”
