New Approach to Reinforced Arch Bridge Construction
Using experiences of world famous cantilever building technologies of big concrete arch bridges on Adriatic coast: The Šibenik Bridge, The Pag Bridge, The Krk Bridge and The Maslenica Bridge, the new original structures and building technologies of large precast arch bridges made of RPC, high performances reactive powder concrete with compressive strength of 200 to 800 MPa, bending stress of 40 t0 70 MPa and high ductility, have been designed and analyzed. Match – cast segments of the bridges are made in factory. An original bridge construction has been proposed: building the arch by a suspended cantilever method with a fan stays arrangement and the superstructure by incremental launching from both ends without the structural steel launching nose and simultaneous construction of piers and regulation of the grade line height.
