How much does KORALJE tell us about grammatical development of late talkers?
KORALJE (Croatian adaptation of MacArthur Communicative Development Inventories MCDI) are parents report forms for assesing language developmet in infants and toddlers. This form is broadly widespread and today it is applied in different languages e.g., Austrian-German, Spanish, Hebrew Croatian. It is not only possible to use this test to screen children with normal language and communication developmet, but also to assess children with diffrent kinds of language impairment. By applying this instrument it is also possible to detect and clasify children with language delays, usually called late talkers. Those childrens expressive vocabulary falls in the lowest 10% of all the results (Thal, Thobias, 1991.) or below 15 centiles (Rescola, Achenbach, 2002.). Collecting data with KORALJE last ten years in Croatian this group of children have been identified as well. Aim of this poster is to show the validity of KORALJE for description of the late talkers.
