Energy and exergy analysis of the parallel and counter flow heat exchanger using measured data
This paper presents the energy and exergy analysis of the parallel and counter flow heat exchanger by using experimental data. An experimental rig is so constructed that we were able to measure the inlet and outlet temperatures and the mass flow rates of streams. The analytical model has been developed to obtain the non-dimensional relationship between destroyed exergy and exchanged heat flow rate as a function of non-dimensional parameters of a heat exchanger: the effectiveness, the ratio of inlet absolute temperatures T, the ratio of heat capacity rates 3 and the number of heat transfer units 2. The analytical model has been developed in two different ways: by the integration along the streamlines and by the integration over the heat exchanger surface. The obtained results are shown in appropriate non - dimensional diagrams.
