Computer Aided Concrete Box Girder Bridge Design
A group of computer algorithms has been built for computing main bearing parts of the bridge starting from the superstructure to the foundations dependent on the span length. This analysis refers to prestressed concrete girder bridges with box cross section. For every cluster of input variables, which are defined within a crossing problem itself as well as through a group of factors and relations for which a designer thinks will be the most relevant in the process of proportioning structural elements, an algorithm gives adequate dimensions of the superstructure, columns and the foundation. This output is given for a reasonable range of span lengths. As a concluding value for appraisal of each solution a concrete consumption [m3/m2] is given. This function has its minimal value in one of the span lengths which can be then adopted as an optimal choice for the bridge in question.
