RF front-end of DRM receiver
A DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale) signal is broadcasted on frequency bands below 30 MHz (AM broadcasting bands), with the aim to use AM propagation advantages. A DRM signal is COFDM based, and because of that a received signal offers an improvement in audio quality and robustness. The receiver and antenna must be designed to work in conditions dictated by variable signal propagation on those frequencies. This paper describes and compares features of a homodyne and a heterodyne RF front-end of a DRM receiver. We have also measured signal/noise levels needed for successful demodulation of particular services of a DRM signal(synchronization, data and audio).
