Assessment of cultural heritage using non destructive methods in view of material and structure properties
Preservation and restoration of the cultural heritage is of great importance. It is well known that this importance can be measured in both economic and social terms. As our contribution to this conference, we will present two non-destructive methods for assessment of material and construction properties. Project of cultural heritage structure preservation and restoration is a very complex task and includes many unknowns. Modeling of such structures in order to establish their current condition or to predict their future behavior requires engagement of knowledgeable engineers from various fields. Reliable modeling requires determination of relevant properties of both material and structure. Adequate means for material and structure properties assessment are non-destructive methods. Two non-destructive methods for assessment of cultural heritage structures in view of material and structure properties are presented: experimental modal analysis and impact echo.
