Public Reason and Bioethics
The aim of this paper is to explain a model of reasoning suitable for the debate on questions of bioethics in the public domain. This model largely relies on the prominent contemporary liberal proposal of John Rawls. I already made such an attempt throughout my book Bioetica. Analisi filosofiche liberali. In this paper, I try to face some challenges to this model of argu-mentation for bioethical questions in the public domain that I did not take in due considera-tion in my book, as well as I try to specify and improve some of the issues in Bioetica. In par-ticular, I face some challenges for the model exemplified on the specific question of abortion. I take in consideration also some stimulating and helpful reactions that I have had to my book, in book reviews by my colleagues, and I try to answer to them.
