Parameters Adjustment of Generalized Predictive Controller
The generalized predictive controller (GPC) appears to be more robust than conventional PID controllers in dealing with processes having varying dead time or mismodeled dynamics. In this paper the algorithm is evaluated on a laboratory-level heat exchanger having dynamic characteristics and dead time that change with the operating point. Basic instructions concerning parameter adjustment are provided and the robustness of the GPC to operating point change compared to that of a PI controller.
