Approximately Time-Optimal State Space Control Employing Fuzzy Logic
A structure for approximately time-optimal state space control employing fuzzy logic is discussed. Controller inputs are state variable errors, i.e. the difference between measured values and references. Fuzzy logic is used to provide time-optimal transient. Feedforward gain and a state estimator are used to estimate the steady-state control signal. An integrator is used to avoid steady-state error. A method for obtaining the parameters of a fuzzy logic controller using a simplified linear model of the plant, is presented. The method is developed for second order systems. Fuzzy logic is used for the emulation of a nonlinear time-optimal control function. Normalization of the fuzzy logic controller inputs and output provides the time-optimal behavior of the system over the entire operating range, using a time-optimal control function designed for the specific operating point. The proposed method is tested by simulation of the level control in a two-tank system.
