New dinuclear pentacoordinate molybdenum(V) complexes, [Mo<sub>2</sub><sup>V</sup>O<sub>3</sub>L<sub>2</sub>] [L = thiosemicarbazonato ligand: C<sub>6</sub>H<sub>4</sub>(O)CH:NN:C(S)NH<i>R</i>' and C<sub>10</sub>H<sub>6</sub>(O)CH:NN:C(S)NH<i>R</i>' ; <i>R</i>' = H, CH<sub>3</sub>, C<sub>6</sub>H<sub>5</sub>) were obtained either by oxygen atom abstraction from Mo<sup>VI</sup>O<sub>2</sub>L with triphenylphosphine or by using [Mo<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>(acac)<sub>4</sub>] in the reaction with the corresponding ligands H<sub>2</sub>L. Crystal and molecular structure of [Mo<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>{; ; ; ; ; C<sub>6</sub>H<sub>4</sub>(O)CH:NN:C(S)NHC<sub>6</sub>H<sub>5</sub>}; ; ; ; ; <sub>2</sub>]<b>· </b>CH<sub>3</sub>CN has been determined by the single-crystal X-ray diffraction method.
