Measurments and Computation of Electromagnetic Field Outside Transformer Station 110/10(20) KV Usina the CDEGS Software

This paper presents computations and measurements of the electric and magnetic fields produced by busbars, transformers and transmission line structures outside the transformer station in transmission power station TS 110/10(20) kV. The fundamental sources of low frequency electromagnetic fields in the transformer station are the primary elements of the 110 kV open substation as well as the connected 110 kV overhead lines and cables. Due to the complexity of the geometry of the substation elements, it was necessary to apply a three-dimensional approach to the computation and analysis of the electromagnetic field. The computations of the electromagnetic fields were conducted for steady-state conditions at a power frequency of 50 Hz. The calculated and measured electric and magnetic fields were compared to the permissible levels according to Croatian regulations. The main goal of the paper is to present measured and computed values of electric and magnetic fields outside but close to the transformer station, since people living near the transformer station were disturbed and confused regarding possible EMF pollution from the station. The induced voltage on the transformer station fence was also computed. Measurements were performed by experts from Končar Institute Zagreb and by members of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Osijek simultaneously. Computations were performed using the CDEGS (Current Distribution, Electromagnetic Fields, Grounding and Soil Structure Analysis) software.
