The Role of Information Communication Technology in Managing Professional Development
Innovations in technology and technological processes in business systems are consequences of new scientific cognitions. Accelerated technological development is especially evident in field of Information Communication Technologies (ICT). The ICT application during the last couple of decades turned current society into the knowledge- -based society. Economic development of society has consequently become directly dependent on its capability of qualitative managing the information respectively knowledge. The barrier of knowledge is an individual who through his own competencies also determines capability and knowledge of a society. Paper considers relationships in the process of acquiring knowledge – education through the application of ICT, changes made in business system and environment but also through changes made in a very process of acquiring knowledge. Further on, it considers the application of ICT as a strategic guideline in process of education and acquiring skills and competencies of an individual and thereby a development of the complete business system. Approach to the abovementioned teaching analyzes Management Information System as an integrated system created for defining managerial information that support decision making process through the application of ICT. Special attention has been given to information subsystem of Human Resources Management. Role of the Human Resources Management subsystems in monitoring human potentials includes, among others, monitoring and maintaining required level of education, adopted skills and competencies of an individual, by giving the emphasis on a multiple role of application of ICT in the professional development of an individual and a complete business system.
