Properties of New Benzothiazole Dye on Blocking Properties of Dyed Wool and PA Fibres Against UV-Rays
UVR transmitted through textile fabrics consits of the waves that pass unchanged through interstices of the fabric and scattered waves that have interacted with the fabric. Wool and PA inherently absorbs UV light because of the presence of aromatic groups in there structure. Generally UV protection provided by dyes based on hue can not be appropriate because colour is determined by the absorption properties of dyes in the visible region. Therefore, coloured wool and PA fabric would not be a reliable indicator of UV protection - dyes. It depends on their transmission/absorption characteristics. In this paper the relation between absorption of electro - magnetic wave in the region of 280 to 400 nm by dyed wool and PA fabrics and its blocking properties against UV-rays is described. Wool and PA fibres were dyed with acid and new benzothiazole dye increase of UV-B blocking properties. Effect of UV blocking properties on physiochemical characteristics of wool fibres (amount of cystine and cysteine) were investigated.
