Morphogenesis, volume and number of hop (Humulus lupulus L.) glandular trichomes, and their influence on alpha acids accumulation in fresh bracts of hop cones
After ESEM observations, the morphogenesis of peltate glandular trichomes was divided into five phases. The first phase was initiation of new peltate glandular trichome, the second phase was phase of differentiation of young trichomes, the third one was phase of trichome intensive growth, the fourth phase was phase of its determination and the fifth phase was phase of peltate glandular trichome maturity. From cross section made in these studies it is obvious that peltate glandular trichomes were partitioned by many partition walls, which inner distribution correspond with the distribution of external folds of trichome surface. From cross section through the bulbous glandular trichomes it is clear that its internal side is completely empty and uneven. In this research positive correlations were found between the average number of glandular trichomes and content of α-acids as well as between the average volume of glandular trichomes and content of α-acids.
