Numerical Simulation of Dynamical Multibody Systems in Fluid Flow
In the paper, mathematical model and numerical procedure of multibody system forward dynamics in incompressible fluid flow is presented. The described procedure is shaped on the basis of loosely coupled partitioned algorithm, where fluid and MBS domains are treated separately and coupled during integration. Moreover, beside dynamical models for fluid and MBS partitions, dynamics of deforming finite volume mesh (needed for fluid dynamics numerical integration) is modeled via pseudo–solid approach. The MBS generalized forces pertinent to the aerodynamic loads are reduced during calculation to mass centre of the corresponding rigid body, after being calculated at the fluid mesh on the current deformed configuration of the fluid–structure interaction boundary. In the context of the MBS integration, the additional coordinates partitioning algorithm is performed within the stabilized time-integration routine, in order to avoid the MBS kinematical constraint violations due to the numerical errors (differential-algebraic system of index 1). The described loosely coupled integration procedure is applied to the numerical simulation of the flow induced dynamics of the wing-aileron multibody system.
