QoS Negotiations and Renegotiations for Multimedia Communications
This paper discusses the particular characteristics of multimedia traffic which make service provision so difficult ; examines current proposals to develop a relationship between user perceptions of “quality” and the factors which must be addressed by the service provider to deliver an acceptable level of service. It is desirable to have the Internet that should offer certain guarantees upon the content qualities of different multimedia communication channels to the end-users. Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) is the standard operating protocol that works on the network layer on the Internet. When the information is delivered through the networks is large, it is partitioned into a number of packets for delivery. Traditional Internet applications, including emails, file transmissions and web page retrievals, can be realized in a satisfactory performance level with the advancement in access speeds.
