Descriptors’ Specification for Image Representation

There is still no generally accepted principle to map low-level features into high level image semantic interpretation although a lot of effort has lately been put into image interpretation research. In this paper, an abstract image description vector suitable for image analysis is given. Also, a method for continuous low-level features vector quantization is presented so as to define appropriate values for descriptor signature. The similarity among different concepts of the domain is examined and compared by using the measure of similarity which is based on the probabilistic model and the measure of distance. Furthermore, formal explicit description of concepts and their properties as well as hierarchical and spatial relationship among concepts in an outdoor image domain will be presented.
