Proton dosimetry in presence of low energy X rays using TLD-700

LET dependence of high sensitive Al2O3:C and CaF2:Mn thermoluminescent (TL) dosemeters were investigated for proton dosimetry purposes. The experiments were performed with 137-Cs gamma rays and 2, 4 and 8 MeV protons using a Tandem van de Graaff accelerator. Experimental set up developed for the irradiation with protons is described. The irradiation dose was about 2 mGy for gammas and in the range 1-40 mGy for proton irradiation, respectively. The possibility of using these dosemeters for accelerator dosimetry purpose is discussed.
