Internet Usage in Developed and Post-Communist Europe: Trends and Differences
The research considers indicators such as Internet usage, E-government and E-commerce in order to measure the gap between post-communist and developed countries. The main assumption is that habitants in post communist countries use Internet to the lesser extent compared to developed European countries. Considerably lower usage of information technology in the areas of information access via Internet, using E-government services and shopping online could be significant barriers toward further development of post-communist countries. Data from Eurostat collected as part of the i2010 initiative were used for the study.
