Packaging of cereals and bakery products
The role of packaging in food preservation is essentially one of protection against extraneous agents and unhygienic handling. Obviously, if food is already contaminated, packaging can have little additional preventive effect. However, most foods are subjected to some form of preservation before packing. The packing materials may further extend the shelf life of the product. Furthermore, packaging is used to present the commodity in an attractive form to the buyer.
