Attitudes and Motivation of EFL third graders in Europe
The aim of this diploma paper is to provide a comparison of young learners' (10-year-olds) attitudes and motivation for learning foreign languages (primarily English) in the Netherlands, Spain and Croatia. The collected data came from the Early Language Learning in Europe (ELLiE) project. This research study included seven countries around Europe: Croatia, England, Italy, Poland, Sweden, Spain and the Netherlands, but this paper will focus on Dutch, Spanish and Croatian EFL young learners and their motivation for learning English. Primary task was to analyze the collected data from the Netherlands and Spain which was audio recorded and transcribed, formed into categories and then analyzed. Finally, the results from these two countries were compared to the ones from Croatia.
