Application of Graphical Software in Teaching of Microeconomics – Lecture Monopoly
This paper investigates how graphical software can be used in the process of teaching microeconomics on example of the lecture Monopoly. Teacher should use simple software or just its simple components in order to make it close to all students. It is especially useful for business schools where students are not expected to know calculus on higher levels of comprehension. Using these programmes teacher can interactively draw graphs of monopoly (in this case), gradually add curves and then shade areas of the interest (using Graph 4.3 software) and finally calculate areas that should be interpreted (Using Mathematica 5.2 or Graph 4.3). In this manner lecture is transformed into an interesting teaching experience for both the teacher and the students.
