The influence of the surface roughness on stainless steel in seawter
Stainless steels of different surface roughness were investigated to detect their susceptibility to the crevice corrosion in the natural seawater as a function of the surface roughness and the chemical treatment in the pickling procedure. The formtion of crevices was assessed by the free corrosion potential and reduction current measurements and by visual and microscopic observation.
