On the processing benefit of roundness
The preference for rounding numbers (to 10, 20, 30...) is discussed from the standpoint of Relevance Theory. The effect of rounding number is dissociated from the granularity of the measuring scale (e.g. time scale in quarters of an hour is of different granularity from the scale that rounds numbers in tens). An experiment using Stenberg paradigm was used for measuring the effect in different working memory loads.
