Simulation of fixed and sliding pressure mode of operation of the thermal power block

In this paper advantages and disadvantages of fixed and sliding pressure mode of operation of the thermal power block have been analyzed. For the purpose of analysis the mathematical model of the block steady-state operation has been developed and simulations of characteristic operational regimes performed. Based on simulation results and assumed scenario of operating regimes during block service life, influence on fuel consumption, on electric power consumption of auxiliary equipment and influence on block service life due to creep and cyclic loading have been analyzed. Results of analysis are favorable for the sliding pressure mode of operation although precaution must be taken when cyclic loading with higher rates of load change are involved.
