Novel sugar-peptide adducts: Synthesis and NMR analysis
Recently, modification of bioactive peptides with monosaccharide moieties attracts much interest, because these neoglycoconjugates are showing increased proteolytic stability and improved transmembrane transport in comparison with parent peptide compound. As established by NMR analysis, tripeptide-related glucose esters give by intramolecular reactions cyclic glucosylamines, while tetrapeptide glucose ester yields cyclic keto-sugar derivative. Obtained results clearly demonstrate that the structure and the peptide length determine the products formed from carbohydrate-peptide esters.
