Spent brewer's yeast, a raw material for isolation of β-glucan

Brewer’s yeast after beer production is waste material, but many of yeast components can achieve a greater commercial value and finally maximize the total profitability of the whole process. One such compound is β-glucan, a cell wall polysaccharide that can be used as a high-value product. Therefore, spent brewer’s yeast can be a good raw material for its isolation and further application in food production, pharmaceutics, chemical industry, and cosmetics. β-glucan possesses many interesting properties which can improve human and animal health and immune system.
