Diffuse hotels as innovative form of accomodation facilities
Increasing the quality of private accomodation facilities or accomodation in households is one of the key objecitves of the Development Strategy of Croatian Tourism till the 2014th. At the same time it is the reason for developing the National Programme what includes creation of new and innovative tourism products. All these actions lead to increasing demand in the rural areas in main season and out of peak seasons and strenghten the competitiveness of Croatian tourism. The concept of a diffuse hotel is designed to connect small tourism providers in a specific small geographic area into broader and more complete offer of tourist services. The diffuse hotel model enables the village or specific selected area to become a "hotel" with one reception, offering accomodation and gastronomic services and including other providers into a network of activities (guiding, selling of traditional food products, wine and souvenirs, horse riding, etc.). Agricultural households in Dubrovnik-Neretva County very often offer just a part of service. The aim of the paper is to analyze some specific features of the diffuse hotels and to explore the possibility of improving the agricultural household tourist offer based on implementation of diffuse hotels. For the purpose of this paper in June, July and August 2013, the perception of 220 tourists in the area of Dubrovnik-Neretva County, Croatia has been explored. According to the results of the research it is visible that the diffuse hotel can be considered and accepted as suitable form of accomodation facilities in the future development of tourism in the area of Dubrovnik-Neretva County.
