How Do Development Indicators Influence the Future of Automated Teller Machines in European Countries: Multiple Regression Analysis Approach?
Since the trends of the main variable under study called “no. of ATM's per 100, 000 adults“ in Europe differ from country to country, with very stable distributions variability over time, the impacts of economic development level indicator (1st) “GDP per capita, PPP in current international $“, and (2nd) ; the ICT development level indicator ”No. of Internet users per 100 people” ; and selected “digital banking development indicators” ; as the (3rd), are studied. Data are analysed for EU-28 in 2014, and compared to 2008. In multiple regression analysis, all the regressors are positively correlated with “no. of ATM’s per 100, 000 adults”, with the exception of “no. of Internet users per 100 people”. In the regression analysis, “Payment and terminal transactions involving non-MFIs” in two versions was used: in Model 1, the variable “Value of transactions per type of payment service, For cards issued by resident PSPs, cards with a debit function, in millions of Euro” ; and, in Model 2, “No. of transactions for cards issued by resident PSPs, cards with a debit function, in mill. of Euro”. These regressors negatively impact the “no. of ATM’s per 100, 000 adults”.
