Interplay of U_A(1) and chiral breakings and restorations
The classical U_A(1) symmetry of QCD is broken on the quantum level, leading to the anomalously massive pseudoscalar eta' meson. We calculate the temperature dependence of the masses in the light pseudoscalar meson nonet. We study the restoration of the U_A(1) symmetry in QCD by observing the temperature dependence of the masses of eta' and its likewise isoscalar partner eta meson. We find that the inclusion of the explicit chiral symmetry breaking is essential, although the restoration of the dynamical chiral symmetry breaking remains the main force driving the (partial) U_A(1) symmetry restoration.
