Background: 422 million people worldwide live with diabetes. 90 % is type 2 diabetes. Rise in diabetes prevalence is also consequence of increase in overweight and obesity of population. Complications of diabetes include heart attack, stroke, blindness, kidney failure and limb amputation. Purpose: Importance of healthy and balanced diet, physical activity and maintaining normal weight is critical in prevention and control of diabetes. Advices on complications and risks of diabetes, increased blood pressure and increased body mass index were also given. Results: 44 % patients showed BMI above recommended limits, of which 77 % were male and 23 % were females. Increase of BMI correlates with higher age. From patients that agreed with blood glucose testing, 8 had glucose concentration above the acceptable level of 7.0 mmol/L. One male patient showed result of 15.4 mmol/L. Positive shift onwards more active lifestyle was observed. In 2015 49 % of patients claimed that they are physically active, while in 2016 that number rose to 88 %. Conclusion: Public health care action on World Diabetes Day is a way to raise awareness, to promote healthy lifestyle and self-care. It is a chance for pharmacist to educate and navigate patients, to show their role as caregivers and reliable and trustworthy health professionals. It is an opportunity to connect caregivers and caretakers, pharmacist and patients in a global cause of prevention and treating diabetes.
