Environment for Automated Functional Testing of Mobile Applications

In today’s world, software applications are written and released in large amounts. To ensure proper functionality, all these applications need to be tested for bugs and problems, which traditionally requires manpower. In the field of mobile application testing, various automated solutions already exist, but they don’t offer a unified way of testing on different systems, and test scrips are often complex. This paper proposes a testing environment based on open source tools as a solution to these problems. The environment allows functional testing of both iOS and Android applications which have a graphical user interface, while making use of custom written libraries to simplify the workflow and reduce the required amount of written code.
