Pisani izvori za povijest Hvara u Antici
This chapter incorporates all the sources which mention Hvar up until the 7th century AD. Also includes are some references that are not certain to have any connection to Hvar, but which are quoted in the literature with reference to the island. It therefore includes: 1) Literary sources. These include fragments from ancient sources describing the history and geography in a literary manner, as well as geographical descriptions, references within itineraries and maps. Each quotation is supplied with supplementary information on the source, together with a short commentary in order to understand the text. In a few cases where there is uncertainty about the content of the text or some associated controversy, bibliographical references are appended. The sources are classified in chronological order; whilst sections from the Antonine Itinerary, Peutinger Table and the Anonymous Geographer of Ravenna, are placed together at the end. 2) Inscriptions. Only inscriptions that are relevant to the history of ancient Hvar are presented here. Sources are presented in the original Greek or Latin version, and in English and Croation translation.
