The rare side effect during Microdialysis continuous subcutaneous glucose monitoring in type 1 diabetic patient
Continuous subcutaneous microdialysis glucose monitoring system (GlucoDay, A. Menarim Diagnostics, Florence, Italy) was applied to a 31-year-old man with type I diabetes mellitus. At the end of a 48-hour monitoring period, it was found that the hollow fiber dialysis chamber had become disconnected from the nylon tube. The hollow fiber was localized by a radiograph of the abdominal wall, and was later successfully removed by a plastic surgeon. This is the first report of this complication of continuous glucose monitoring.
