Acute hyperosmolar coma complicating anesthesia for hydatid disease surgery
Depending on the location of the hydatid cyst, various specialized anesthetic principles must be employed during the planning and administration of anesthesia. The possibility of anaphylaxis must be anticipated should rupture of the cyst occur. Electrolyte and acid-base status should be monitored closely if 20% saline is used, and appropriate interventions must be made promptly.
