Halucinations in patients with Parkinsons disease
Hallucinations are a significant complication in patients with parkinsons disease (PD). The research dealt with incidence of hallucinations in patients with PD. The research included 67 PD patients, of both sexes. In 11 patients visual hallucinations were noticed, of which 4 patients also had auditory hallucinations. The treatment period in all patients with hallucinations was more than 3 years. Average treatment period in PD patients with hallucinations was 5.4 years. During correction of the standard therapy, hallucinations regressed only partly. Only milder visual hallucinations of less frequent and lesser intesity remained. Occasional auditory hallucinations were reported by one patient only. It can be concluded that in PD patients visual hallucinations are more frequent and peristent.
