Synthesis of the Molybdovanadates Coordinated by Oxalato Ligands. The Crystal Structure of K_6[Mo_6V_2O_2_4(C_2O_4)_2]center dot 6H_2O
The oxalato complex of polyoxomolybdovanadate, K_6[Mo_6V_2O_2_4(C_2O_4)2]center dot 6H_2O has been obtained in the reaction of potassium molybdate, ammonium vanadate and tartaric or ascorbic acid. Such conversion of dicarboxylate into oxalate ions indicates the catalytic role of molybdenum. The complexes of the analogous compositions were obtained also in the reactions of MoO_3, V_2O_5 and potassium oxalate or M_2CO_3 (M = Rb, Cs) and oxalic acid. The centrosymmetrical molybdovanadate anion [Mo_6V_2O_2_4(C_2O_4)_2]^6^- consists of six MoO_6 and two VO_6 edge-sharing octahedra of the gama-[Mo_6O_2_6]^4^- type structure. All complexes were characterized by powder and single crystal X-ray structure analyses, ESR and IR spectra and TG and DSC measurements.
