Mucilage events in the Northern Adriatic: Search for tools for early warning

Huge gelatinous aggregates, that cover sea surfaces and/or float in the water body in the case of mucilage event in the Adriatic Sea caused different problems in coastal management and serious economic damage in fisheries and touristic activity. Laboratory experiments and field observations were made using an electrochemical method for determination of organic surface active substances in seawater samples with the aim to find out of total for early warning monitoring of mucilage phenomenon.
