Liquid-liquid equilibrium calculations by the segmental interaction FV-UNIQUAC model. Part 2. Extension to mixtures containing polystyrene
The segmental interaction FV-UNIQUAC model, especially suited for correlation and prediction of liquid-liquid equilibrium (LEE) of polymer solutions, was recently presented. The accuracy and the range of applicability of the model is determined by the available number of reliable segmental parameters. In this paper new parameters are reported for thirteen different binary interactions between polystyrene and different solvents, and three sets of binary segmental interaction parameters previously published, have been revised. The parameters were estimated so that the reported experimental equilibrium compositions are represented as well as possible. The absolute mean deviation between experimental and predicted equilibrium compositions of polymer is 4.8 wt.%.
