Preceding chemical reactions in dc polarography:: different approaches to the analysis of the carbonyl compounds dehydration kinetics
It is shown that many dehydration rate constant of carbonyl compounds found by various kinetic approaches to dc polarography are overestimated. This anomaly is connected neither with the adsorption effects, nor with neglecting the spherical diffusion. It is caused by the influence of the diffusion contribution to the total limiting kinetic current of the depolizer from the solution bulk. Quantitative consideration of thois effect has allowed us to obtain the correct rate constant under steady-stae conditions, independently of the degree of the diffusion contribution.
