Comparison of Pulse Timing-Discriminators for Optical Distance Measurements
In electronic system for optical distance measurements, using TOF technique, time interval is defined by Start and Stop optoelectronic pulse signals. Distance measurement error depends strongly on the timing of Stop pulse signal. Timing-error should be minimized by combination of optimal filtering against noise and choosing timing discriminator circuits, which are not sensitive on pulse amplitude and rise-time variations as well as on triggering energy-effect. Different discrimination methods and circuits were analysed and compared.
