System expansion and clusters
The kinetic energy spectra of light charged particles produced in the most central Au + Au collisions have been measured at the SIS/GSI accelerator facility using the FOPI detector. The spectra of the measured particles have been described by a model that includes thermal and collective degrees of freedom. By incorporating the conservation laws of total charge, baryon number, and energy into the analysis, we have found that there is more energy in the collective degrees of freedom than in the thermal ones. With the inclusion of velocity flow profile effects, the kinetic energy spectra of the measured particles could all be described with a relatively low freeze-out temperature.
