Heat transfer and pressure drop in tubes equipped with coiled wire turbulence promoters

Experimental investigations have been carried out on heat transfer and pressure drop for turbulent flow of air in a smooth tube and helical-coil-inserted tubes. The pitch s, the length L and the position of the helical coil x in the tube were varied. By means of dimensional analysis and experimental results the correlations for the Nusselt number Nu and friction factor for helical coil xHC were developed.
