On numerical modelling of nonlinear responses of shell-like mechanical structures

A numerical simulation of nonlinear responses of shell-like mechanical structures by means of finite element method has been presented. A geometrically nonlinear stability analysis of thin-walled compound shell is performed. Employing a layered approach, the efficient computation strategies for the elastoplastic analysis as well as for the geometrically nonlinear computation of laminated composite structures are described. The performances of the algorithms presented have been demonstrated by numerical examples.
