The influence of tool wear on machinability parameters
Machinability is understood as a basic technological feature of workpiece material, which gives information on ability of material to be machined with particular machining process. It is usually defined by a group of criterions, or functions of machinability. Taking in consideration the changes of influencing factors during cuttimng, and increasing degree of flexible automation of machining systems, it seams appropriate to accept the dynamical behaviour of machinability. This paper describes the influence of tool wear on machinability functions, and explains the need for adoption of dynamic character of machinability. Machinability should not be treated as a constant, but as a complex characteristic whose changes should be researched and evaluated.
