How to use design knowledge in design process

This paper presents research of the implementation of the AI methods in design process. This is a part of research project of developing integrated CAD system environment based on design plans. Design process is complex creative and iterative process and it should be defined as transformation of set of the requirements to set of the objects that satisfy the function. Design process should be represented as a design plan, graphically represented as a hierarchical tree. Node in this structure represents an actin in design process that performs transformations of input attributes set to output attributes set, checks the constraints and decides which node should be activated next. ICAD system is intelligent knowledge-based system. Domain knowledge is stored in domain knowledge base or indirectly in action functions database. Structure of a domain knowledge base, developing of a domain knowledge base and developing of an action functions database is main subject of this paper.
