Correlating Grinded Tool Wear with Cutting Forces and Surface Roughness
These work presents the results of investigation conducted at Machine tool department of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, Zagreb, Croatia. The aim of investigation was to examine the influence of grinded flank tool wear on cutting forces, surface roughness and coefficient of chip defformation (compression). The tests were done on lathe for ordinary and orthogonal cutting conditions, and by applying uncoated carbide inserts with, and without grinded flank wear. Comparison between influence of grinded and ordinary tool wear shows similarities when dealing with cutting forces, while the influence on surface roughness is difficult to compare. The tests were done on material Ck 15 (DIN 17006).
