Optimum structural design using Mathematica

This paper presents the results of research in optimum design of truss structures using Mathematica. One package for general use in nonlinear programming problems is developed. Due to the special objective functions in design synthesis problems, the flexible polyhedron method is used, using penalty function formulation to take constraints into account. The optimum structural design of truss structures is performed by means of specially developed program package for static analysis based on fully stressed design method. Several examples have been presented to demonstrate package usage.
