Botulinum toxin type A in pain management
In this short review botulinum toxin type A in pain managment is described. Namely during recent years, there has been increasing clinical evidence that BTX-A might also have an antinociceptive action independent of its neuromuscular junction-blocking effect. Most of these suggestions are based on small and usually not well controlled experiments. There are only few preclinical experiments done after clinical observations. Thus mechanism of action, its duration, doses, etc are still awaiting carefully designed preclinical and clinical experiments.
